  • Rabindranath Tagore: Rabindranath Tagore was the first Asian to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. He received the nobel prize in 1913 for his collection of poems titled "Gitanjali".
  • V.S. Naipaul: Although he was born in Trinidad, V.S. Naipaul is of Indian descent and is often associated with Indian literature. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2001.
